Last weekend, my daughter turned 3 and she requested to have a ‘Pink Barbie Party’. It sounded like every girl’s dream.
I decided to choose a pink, black and white colour theme and base the food around those colours too. It was going to be a really hot day, so I opted to put two trestle tables together to create one large table and create a morning tea, high tea style.
To keep my stress levels at bay, I delegated cupcakes and macarons to a friend who runs a party food business. The cake was made by my good friend and blogger, Create Bake Make. The rest of the food was either prepped the night before or early that morning.
The party was definitely a success and got a lot of wows from the party girl herself and her guests. The best thing about sitting the kids down to eat meant the mess was limited to one area.
One thing I could have done better is offer more savoury food. There was a lot of sugar. I did have popcorn ready to put in boxes, but I didn’t get time to style it in time for the party.
In true party form we played party games like pass the parcel – playing Barbie Girl from Aqua and pin the sunglasses on Barbie.
For a fun and easy craft activity I bought a pack of 12 plastic sunglasses and diamante stickers so the girls could make their own glam Barbie glasses. The craft was a hit.
The party items were purchased from Stacks and Big W. Big W has an amazing range of Barbie licensed party favours which were used in the party bags and as prizes in the pass the parcel game.
Overall my 3 year old had a ball and I’m glad I went to the effort of creating a girly party for her and her friends.
